
Local Bank Donates $10,000 to Address Student Food Insecurity During Summer Break

PERKASIE, PA (June 2025) – Penn Community Bank, the largest independent mutual bank in eastern Pennsylvania, is proud to sponsor St. Luke’s Summer Meals Program for the seventh consecutive year. Since its inception, the program addresses food insecurity from Allentown to Quakertown – areas where more than half of public school students qualify for free or reduced-price school lunch.
In summer 2024, the program served a total of 6,962 meals – a 27% increase from 2023. Additionally, nearly 200 backpacks full of school supplies were distributed across program sites.

At Free Fall Action Park in Quakertown (670 S. Main Street, Quakertown), bags of non-perishable food will be distributed each Friday from June 9 through August 22, 12pm – 2pm, for children to take home to their families. Likewise, in Allentown, grab-and-go meals will be available at Star Community Health – Sigal Center on Tuesdays, Wednesday, and Thursday starting at 11:30am, from June 17 through August 21, curtesy of Hatzel & Buehler, Inc., a long-time partner of the program.
