Penn Community Bank’s K. Bernard Tynes Named to 2018 40 Under 40

Leading independent, mutual organization’s vice president recognized as an up-and-coming young professional by Philadelphia Business Journal

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (MAY 2018) – Penn Community Bank is pleased to announce that K. Bernard Tynes, Vice President of Retail Strategy and Distribution, has been chosen from among hundreds of nominees to be one of Philadelphia Business Journal’s 2018 Top 40 Under 40, and annual program to recognize current and future leaders in various industries and in the community.

“We are thrilled that Bernard has been recognized by the Philadelphia Business Journal for all he has done to promote financial wellness in our region while working to support worthy causes throughout the community,” said Penn Community Bank President and CEO Jeane M. Vidoni.

A graduate of Goldey Beacom College and Harvard’s School of Continuing Education, Tynes champions innovation at Penn Community Bank. Among other projects, he spearheaded the development and launch of Workplace Connections, a free bank-at-work program serving area employers and their employees.

As part of Workplace Connections, Penn Community Bank’s financial experts visit area employers to provide on-site financial literacy programs. Employers that participate in Workplace Connections also are eligible to be featured in Penn Community Bank’s Small Business Spotlight, which highlights a participating local business at one of the bank’s branch locations.

Because Penn Community Bank donates $10 for every checking account opened through Workplace Connections, Tynes’ initiative also has generated $5,000 for local nonprofits in the past year. The organizations that have benefitted from the program include Bucks County Opportunity Council, Bucks County SPCA, Central Bucks Family YMCA, Family Service Association of Bucks County, and Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County.

The 40 Under 40 award winners were honored at a dinner at SugarHouse Casino on May 10. They also were featured in a special May 11 issue of the Philadelphia Business Journal and highlighted at www.pbj.com.

About Penn Community: Penn Community Bank holds nearly $2 billion in assets, employs more than 300 people, and offers banking, lending, insurance and investments at 24 bank branches and two administrative centers throughout Bucks and Montgomery Counties, Pennsylvania. As an independent, mutual financial institution, Penn Community Bank is not publicly traded and operates with its long-term mission in mind: to help businesses grow and prosper, to provide financial resources to individuals and families throughout their lifetimes, to strengthen the local economy, and to partner with local organizations to act as a catalyst for positive growth in every market it serves.
